Cloud Platform Engineer, AWS & Kubernetes
Overview
You will own the design and delivery of cloud infrastructure at scale, powering enterprise workloads on AWS and Kubernetes. You join a collaborative team of 12 engineers, partnering with product and security to ship resilient platforms. This role blends deep infrastructure work with automation, making you the go-to for Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. You will drive reliability and cost efficiency from day one, shaping the platform roadmap.
What You'll Do8
- 1Migrate legacy workloads to AWS using Terraform, cutting infrastructure sprawl by 30% in the first quarter.
- 2Build and scale Kubernetes clusters, enabling zero-downtime deployments for Docker-based services.
- 3Design CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, automating build, test, and deploy cycles.
- 4Implement monitoring and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana, reducing mean time to detection.
- 5Own infrastructure security, applying IAM policies and VPC best practices to meet compliance.
- 6Lead incident response for platform outages, driving root-cause analysis and prevention.
- 7Optimize cloud spend by analyzing usage patterns and right-sizing resources across EC2 and RDS.
- 8Document architecture and runbooks, enabling the team to self-serve and iterate faster.
Requirements9
- 15+ years in cloud engineering, with deep AWS expertise (compute, networking, storage).
- 23+ years managing Kubernetes in production, including Helm and service mesh.
- 32+ years writing Terraform for infrastructure as code, versioned and reviewed.
- 4Experience building CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- 5Strong scripting in Python or Bash for automation and tooling.
- 6Hands-on with Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability stacks.
- 7Solid grasp of networking concepts: VPC, subnets, load balancers, DNS.
- 8Track record of improving reliability and reducing cloud costs.
- 9Ability to communicate complex technical decisions to non-engineers.
