The Director, Associate General Counsel leads legal strategy protects PODS manages litigation oversees outside counsel controls expenses and drives compliance. This role combines business insight with deep legal expertise to shape defense and risk mitigation across diverse portfolios.
What You'll Do11
- 1Manage diverse litigation including commercial disputes transportation claims workers compensation employment litigation and regulatory actions
- 2Drive end-to-end litigation strategy analyzing case merits evaluating dispositive motions guiding early settlement decisions and developing trial themes
- 3Direct outside counsel aligning with nationwide legal strategy and cost-management expectations
- 4Oversee discovery including litigation holds document production and coordination with internal stakeholders
- 5Support investigations and fact-finding related to potential legal matters manage OSHA inspections and coordinate responses with the Chief Legal Officer
- 6Advise HR and business leaders on compliance with federal state and local employment laws
- 7Provide business-oriented legal guidance to operational leaders HR compliance and risk management partners
- 8Develop training on employment law and workplace safety for HR management and employees
- 9Collaborate on commercial contract development for scalable business-centric approach
- 10Report directly to Chief Legal Officer and handle hiring termination and pay decisions performance management
- 11Establish trust and nurture relationships to advise senior leadership
Requirements10
- 1Juris Doctor JD degree from an accredited law school
- 2Admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 310+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house managing litigation in federal and state courts
- 4Demonstrated experience managing outside counsel and controlling litigation budgets
- 5Strong analytical negotiation and strategic problem-solving skills
- 6Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- 7Ability to function autonomously while advising management under time pressure
- 8Experience in high safety standard industries such as manufacturing construction or energy
- 9Background in union and labor relations or environmental health and safety regulations
- 10Preference for candidates who understand fast-paced environments
