What You'll Do8

  • 1Build trust and rapport with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to understand their preferences and goals.
  • 2Assess activities and physical spaces for risks, both physical and emotional, that might hinder joyful engagement.
  • 3Provide necessary support during activities to ensure safety and participation.
  • 4Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, about daily activities and outcomes.
  • 5Advocate for individuals to engage in joyful experiences as independently as possible.
  • 6Document progress and incidents in accordance with agency policies.
  • 7Support individuals with personal care tasks as needed, maintaining dignity and respect.
  • 8Collaborate with team members to create a positive and supportive environment.

Requirements7

  • 1Ability to lift 50 pounds and provide physical support to individuals weighing 200 pounds or more.
  • 2Familiarity working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • 3Demonstrate accountability, honesty, and patience.
  • 4Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules.
  • 5Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 6Team player with a positive attitude.
  • 7High school diploma or equivalent.
