Direct Support Professional, Developmental Disabilities
Overview
Direct Support Professionals at All R Friends own the daily support and mentorship of adults with developmental disabilities, helping them gain independence and stay active in the community. You will join a dedicated team in the Supported Living Division, working one-on-one with individuals to build essential life skills and foster genuine friendships. This role stands out for its community-based focus, with outings to libraries, parks, and festivals, and for the 24/7 director support and on-call nurse, ensuring you always have backup.
What You'll Do8
- 1Explore the community with clients by visiting libraries, parks, festivals, fairs, and the zoo.
- 2Coordinate fun outings like lunch at favorite restaurants or movie trips.
- 3Teach daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, and personal care routines.
- 4Assist with grocery shopping and meal planning to promote healthy choices.
- 5Create a safe, welcoming home environment that encourages independence.
- 6Build meaningful friendships and act as a mentor and coach.
- 7Document client progress and communicate with the care team.
- 8Drive clients to appointments and activities using personal vehicle.
Requirements7
- 11+ years of experience in caregiving or direct support, preferred
- 2CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
- 3Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for client transport
- 4Pass background check and drug screening
- 5Ability to lift 50+ pounds for physical support
- 6Flexible availability for weekday and weekend shifts
- 7Compassionate and reliable attitude, with strong communication skills
