Direct Support Professional, Children & Adults in DC Area
Overview
Direct Support Professional will provide essential care and support to children and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities at our Washington DC area site. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized plans, promote independence, and help clients participate in community activities. What You'll Do10
- 1Build and implement individualized support plans and document progress for each client
- 2Provide direct care including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility support
- 3Facilitate community integration activities and encourage social participation
- 4Administer medications and follow health care protocols as directed
- 5Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
- 6Promote independence, dignity, and self-advocacy in all interactions
- 7Coordinate with care teams to monitor client progress and adjust supports as needed
- 8Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- 9Support safe transportation and community access for clients
- 10Assist with training and mentoring new staff as needed
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 2Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
- 3Valid driver license and reliable transportation
- 4Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- 5Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
- 6Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Technician certifications
- 7Compassionate, dependable, and committed to person-centered care
- 8Availability for onsite full-time schedule in the DC area
- 9Commitment to housing, vocational training, and employment services mission
- 10Must be able to work with both children and adults with developmental disabilities
