As a Design Control Technician, you will own the accuracy of engineering drawings, work orders, and technical documentation for a Houston-based manufacturing operation. You will support the Design Control function by preparing and maintaining work order packages, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and coordinating with internal teams to gather critical technical information. This role sits at the core of the engineering-to-production workflow, where your precision directly impacts product quality and operational efficiency. You will work onsite, collaborating closely with the Design Control Manager and cross-functional teams in a hands-on industrial setting. What You'll Do10

  • 1Generate engineering drawings in line with engineering requirements, specifications, and licensing standards, using AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • 2Prepare and maintain work orders with accurate and complete technical information, including part numbers, quantities, and revision levels.
  • 3Assemble work order packages by including the correct procedures, instructions, prints, and engineering drawings for each job.
  • 4Maintain proprietary thread print files and related technical documentation, ensuring version control and accessibility.
  • 5Support the Design Control Manager by gathering and organizing technical information for existing jobs and new designs.
  • 6Review engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements and standards.
  • 7Coordinate with cross-functional teams to obtain required technical information and documentation, resolving gaps promptly.
  • 8Maintain organized engineering and production records, both digital and physical, to support audits and traceability.
  • 9Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements, participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • 10Complete additional design control and technical documentation tasks as assigned, contributing to team efficiency.

Requirements10

  • 1High school diploma, GED, trade school education, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 22+ years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, machining, or industrial environment.
  • 3Ability to read and understand technical drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • 4Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • 5Proven time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • 6Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow standard procedures.
  • 7Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with engineering and production teams.
  • 8Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.
  • 9Familiarity with document control processes and engineering change procedures is preferred.
  • 10Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) or manufacturing work order systems is a plus.
