What You'll Do11

  • 5Evaluate patients for signs of gum disease, cavities, and infection, documenting findings for the dentist.
  • 6Remove plaque and apply fluoride treatments to maintain oral health and prevent decay.
  • 7Teach patients good oral hygiene techniques, emphasizing daily care habits that stick.
  • 8Create dental impressions and take x-rays as needed for diagnostic purposes.
  • 9Assist the dentist during exams and procedures, passing instruments and anticipating needs.

Requirements8

  • 1Associate's Degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation; Bachelor's or Master's preferred.
  • 2Current Dental Hygienist licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • 31-2 years of clinical experience in dental hygiene.
  • 4Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and dental safety guidelines.
  • 5Ability to stand for extended periods and bend repeatedly during patient care.
  • 6Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • 7Proficiency with dental x-ray equipment and radiographs.
