What You'll Do10

  • 1Prepare operatory setups for restorative and surgical procedures, stocking trays with Dentrix-verified instruments and materials.
  • 2Escort patients between the front desk and operatory, updating Dentrix charts with treatment notes and next steps.
  • 3Assist doctors with four-handed dentistry, passing instruments and clearing the field during composite fillings and extractions.
  • 4Sterilize instruments per OSHA guidelines, logging cycles and maintaining autoclave logs daily.
  • 5Order and replenish operatory supplies with Henry Schein inventory software, keeping par levels above 2-week usage.
  • 6Take digital X-rays with Dexis sensors, ensuring diagnostic quality and proper mounting in Dentrix.
  • 7Manage patient comfort during procedures, explaining steps and answering questions to reduce anxiety.
  • 8Support front desk with same-day appointment confirmations and treatment plan presentations.
  • 9Cross-train on Dentrix insurance verification and pre-authorizations for high-value procedures.
  • 10Serve as backup for hygiene room setups, polishing and fluoride trays as needed.

Requirements8

  • 11+ year chairside assisting in a general or family dental practice.
  • 2X-ray certification (RDA or CDA) with current CPR card.
  • 3Proficiency with Dentrix practice management, including scheduling and charting.
  • 4Knowledge of infection control and OSHA standards for instrument sterilization.
  • 5Strong four-handed dentistry skills with composite and amalgam procedures.
  • 6Ability to lift 20 lbs and stand for 8-hour shifts.
  • 7Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus for patient communication.
  • 8High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited DA program preferred.
