
Data Governance Analyst, Metadata & Data Quality
Overview
You will own enterprise data governance initiatives that span metadata management, data quality, and data lineage across the organization. You will partner with data owners, data stewards, and technical teams to build a trusted data catalog and lifecycle management framework. Data Governance Analyst drives source system rationalization and implements data quality controls that ensure reliable analytics. You will work with Collibra or Informatica, Snowflake, and Ataccama to shape how the company manages data as an asset. This role stands out for its direct impact on data trust and regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build and maintain the enterprise data catalog by onboarding new data assets and mapping metadata in Collibra or Informatica.
- 2Drive data quality initiatives by defining rules, monitoring metrics, and resolving issues with data stewards using Ataccama and Great Expectations.
- 3Design and implement data lineage tracking to map end-to-end data flows across Snowflake, Databricks, and Kafka.
- 4Lead source system rationalization projects to identify redundant data sources and consolidate metadata into a single source of truth.
- 5Document data lifecycle policies and enforce data retention standards across AWS S3 and Azure Data Lake.
- 6Partner with business units to define data ownership and stewardship roles, ensuring clear accountability for critical data domains.
- 7Automate metadata extraction and validation workflows using Python scripts and SQL queries.
- 8Present data governance metrics and progress reports to IT leadership using Power BI dashboards.
Requirements10
- 13+ years in data governance, data management, or data quality roles.
- 2Hands-on experience with data governance tools like Collibra, Informatica, or Alation.
- 3Proficiency in SQL for data profiling and analysis.
- 4Experience with Azure Purview or AWS Glue for metadata management.
- 52+ years working in cloud data environments (Snowflake, Databricks, or AWS).
- 6Strong understanding of data lifecycle management and data retention policies.
- 7Excellent communication skills for partnering with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 8Experience with data quality frameworks such as Great Expectations or Deequ.
- 9Familiarity with Python or Scala for scripting data quality checks.
- 10Knowledge of regulatory frameworks like GDPR or CCPA is a plus.
