Data Analytics & Visualization Associate Planner
Overview
The Associate Planner will lead data analytics and visualization efforts within the City of Charlotte's Planning, Design & Development Department. This role drives GIS-focused planning tasks and supports major initiatives like the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Candidates will collaborate across departments while maintaining a moderate level of responsibility.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and implement GIS solutions for the Rezoning Program Area of Entitlement Services Division
- 2Create GIS features maps and mailing lists supporting rezoning processes
- 3Assist other Planning Divisions with data analysis and mapping requests
- 4Support high-profile initiatives including Charlotte Unified Development Ordinance and Alignment Rezoning
- 5Foster interdepartmental collaboration to establish cohesive working relationships
- 6Ensure compliance with city-wide data publishing security protocols
- 7Develop and maintain visually appealing maps spatial datasets and tables using cartographic principles
- 8Apply problem-solving and spatial analysis techniques to address planning challenges
- 9Communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders
- 10Manage varied technical tasks efficiently with moderate supervision
- 11Contribute to continuous learning and professional development
Requirements9
- 1Minimum 4-year degree in Planning Architecture Geography Landscape Architecture Engineering Political Science Public Administration Social Science or related field
- 2One year professional planning experience required
- 3Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online Microsoft Office Suite
- 4Strong understanding of urban planning land development principles
- 5Ability to perform technical tasks accurately under tight deadlines
- 6Master’s degree in relevant field may substitute for experience
- 7Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Scenario Planning concepts preferred
- 8Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
- 9Commitment to continuous improvement and skill development
