What You'll Do9

  • 1Classify merchandise using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to set duty rates for each shipment.
  • 2Input shipment data into Cargowise and review for completeness, filing entries with CBP.
  • 3Prepare invoices, packing slips, and certificates of origin to support customs clearance.
  • 4Monitor entry status, follow up with CBP on delays or discrepancies, and resolve them.
  • 5Communicate with clients on shipment status, document needs, and regulatory explanations.
  • 6Audit import documentation to verify compliance with U.S. Customs laws and regulations.
  • 7Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate import logistics and meet client deadlines.
  • 8Track entry processing times and generate KPI reports on clearance efficiency.
  • 9Identify and escalate compliance risks to management, participating in training programs.

Requirements8

  • 12+ years in customs clearance or brokerage operations.
  • 2Working knowledge of Cargowise for customs entry processing.
  • 3High school diploma or GED required; additional customs training preferred.
  • 4Knowledge of HTS classification, INCO terms, and CBP regulations.
  • 5Familiarity with domestic and international geography, including ports and cities.
  • 6Experience with customer service and client communication in logistics.
  • 7Basic understanding of U.S. regulatory laws and other government agency requirements.
  • 8Ability to analyze import documents for compliance and accuracy.
