What You'll Do12
- 1Lead or support complex transactions from structuring through execution while coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel
- 2Develop practical guidance playbooks and templates to help business teams make informed decisions efficiently
- 3Identify recurring legal and operational issues and design scalable solutions for business impact
- 4Manage outside counsel relationships with emphasis on Canadian matters and support cross-border initiatives
- 5Advise on commercial contracts procurement support and operational processes across departments
- 6Provide legal support for privacy data protection and regulatory compliance matters relevant to financial services
- 7Support treasury organization with banking transactions and debt equity transactions led by parent company legal team
- 8Assess and mitigate legal risk in dispute support scenarios and partner with counsel on litigation or regulatory matters
- 9Collaborate across teams and jurisdictions to deliver consistent practical legal advice
- 10Lead or support workouts restructurings and customer-facing financial products including new business models and joint ventures
- 11Deliver tailored transactional advice that balances innovation with risk management in a fast-paced environment
- 12Build trusted relationships and serve as collaborative advisor within a dynamic legal team
Requirements10
- 1Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 28 years of general experience with minimum 5 years at a law firm in-house or combined roles
- 3Meaningful experience in two or more areas: commercial finance secured lending financial services corporate and securities commercial transactions procurement privacy regulatory compliance or in-house business counseling
- 4Sound judgment collaboration skills and ability to prioritize work based on materiality and risk
- 5Strong legal research analytical drafting and negotiation abilities with capacity to translate complex issues into clear guidance
- 6Preference for experience working across jurisdictions or supporting Canadian legal matters
- 7Familiarity with UCC Article 9 workouts restructurings or related credit matters
- 8Experience advising on financial services products captive finance or regulated commercial finance activities
- 9Background in privacy data protection information security or related regulatory compliance matters
- 10Experience with new business models strategic partnerships or complex cross-functional initiatives
