Controls Engineering Technician, Data Center
Overview
As a Controls Engineering Technician, you will own commissioning, installation, and troubleshooting for a large-scale data center campus in Litchfield Park, AZ. Working with electrical controls, instrumentation, and power monitoring, you'll support mission-critical building automation. You'll operate independently in a construction environment, collaborating with engineers on PLC and BAS systems. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge infrastructure with OSHA 10 training and potential MEWP certification.
What You'll Do10
- 1Install and terminate control wiring, instrumentation, and communication cabling for PLC and BAS systems.
- 2Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings to ensure accurate terminations.
- 3Perform terminations in control panels, junction boxes, and field devices, including RS-485/Modbus connections.
- 4Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation such as sensors, transmitters, and switches.
- 5Support commissioning activities including loop checks, I/O verification, and system testing.
- 6Troubleshoot control system and instrumentation issues in real-time to minimize downtime.
- 7Assist engineers with testing and startup of PLC and building automation systems.
- 8Review project drawings and BIM models to align with design specifications.
- 9Generate testing documentation and reports for compliance and quality assurance.
- 10Safely operate lifts and other access equipment as required for installation and maintenance.
Requirements10
- 14+ years of low-voltage electrical construction experience.
- 21+ year as a Controls Technician, Instrumentation Technician, or Automation Technician.
- 3Proficiency in control wiring and terminations, including RS-485/Modbus communications.
- 4Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- 5Experience in instrumentation installation and calibration.
- 6Capability to work inside control panels and junction boxes.
- 7Ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced construction environment.
- 8Recent experience in data centers is a plus.
- 9OSHA 10 certification is required.
- 10Experience with MEWP/lift operation is preferred.
