Controller at AirGarage - Lead Accounting & Tech Integration
Overview
As our Controller you will architect and own the accounting function at AirGarage. This builder role transforms a scrappy operation into a scalable enterprise. What You'll Do11
- 1Own the books end to end lead monthly close and shorten cycle time
- 2Design and implement GAAP revenue recognition for multi location revenue share business
- 3Lead ERP migration from QuickBooks to a modern solution
- 4Rebuild chart of accounts for clean location level reporting
- 5Connect accounting systems to real time data warehouse for operational alignment
- 6Manage indirect tax and multi jurisdiction compliance across national footprint
- 7Establish controls to pass first audit and maintain audit readiness
- 8Level up and mentor accountants to set high performance standards
- 9Partner with Operations Sales and Product to ensure accurate billing and revenue split
- 10Deliver timely accurate monthly financials and supporting schedules
- 11Travel ~6 weeks annually for in person collaboration and company events
Requirements12
- 1CPA or equivalent with deep GAAP expertise especially revenue recognition for transactional businesses
- 2Proven ERP migration experience moving beyond QuickBooks
- 3Audit experience including first time preparation and execution
- 4Systems thinking ability to collaborate with data teams and design automated processes
- 5Hands on operator mindset willing to do the work personally
- 6Complex multi location multi jurisdiction exposure preferred
- 7Strong bias for action and ability to prioritize impactful tasks
- 8Background in Big Four or top regional firm combined with startup operating experience
- 9Indirect tax and sales tax compliance across many jurisdictions
- 10Familiarity with payment processors and marketplace money movement
- 11Experience with modern accounting automation tools
- 12Remote work capability with occasional in person travel
