Construction Engineer - Civil Infrastructure Boston
Overview
We seek a motivated Construction Engineer to lead civil construction projects across Worcester to Boston. The ideal candidate will provide technical direction and ensure safe on‑schedule delivery aligned with design specifications. This role blends field presence with engineering judgment to manage complex infrastructure systems.
What You'll Do11
- 1Provide on‑site engineering support and technical direction during construction to confirm alignment with design plans and standards
- 2Coordinate with contractors subcontractors owners and municipal agencies to resolve design issues and maintain progress
- 3Conduct inspections and quality assurance testing for earthwork pavement drainage sewer utilities retaining walls and structural elements
- 4Develop and maintain project schedules using CPM with Primavera P6 or MS Project and generate daily weekly reports in Procore
- 5Plan traffic control measures interstate closures detours and on‑ramp operations in partnership with traffic engineers
- 6Review submittals shop drawings and RFIs verify compliance and prepare field documentation change orders
- 7Collaborate with design engineers to clarify plans propose constructible solutions and support revisions
- 8Manage utility coordination permitting and scheduling for municipal connections
- 9Oversee inspection and testing of structural components and coordinate specialty inspections such as welding or geotechnical observations
- 10Ensure safety environmental compliance and participate in pre‑construction safety meetings
- 11Support bid review constructability reviews and preconstruction planning while tracking costs and claims avoidance
Requirements8
- 1Associate or Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with 8+ years progressive experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects
- 2Field experience with construction inspection earthwork retaining walls and structural components
- 3Strong knowledge of construction standards specifications and industry best practices
- 4Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings shop drawings and construction specifications
- 5Experience developing and managing project schedules using CPM with Primavera P6 or MS Project
- 6Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore
- 7Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in a construction environment
- 8Excellent communication and coordination skills with contractors public agencies and municipal stakeholders
