Commercial Electrical Estimator, DFW Construction
Overview
You will own the complete estimating process for commercial and industrial electrical projects across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, ranging from tenant finish-outs to multimillion-dollar facilities. You will build accurate, competitive bids using Accubid Anywhere, collaborating with leadership, project managers, field crews, and vendors to secure profitable work. This role puts you at the center of the company's growth, with direct input on the projects we pursue and the preconstruction processes we use. You will see your estimates come to life as projects are won and built, and you will help shape the future of a growing contractor.
What You'll Do10
- 1Prepare complete electrical estimates for commercial and industrial projects, from bid documents to final proposal.
- 2Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications using Accubid Anywhere.
- 3Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to capture all scopes and requirements.
- 4Solicit, analyze, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
- 5Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, risks, and value engineering opportunities to protect profitability.
- 6Prepare proposal letters, clarifications, exclusions, and scope summaries that align with client expectations.
- 7Participate in design-build budgeting and conceptual estimating for early-stage projects.
- 8Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather crucial project information.
- 9Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel during estimate development to ensure accuracy.
- 10Assist with project turnover meetings, maintaining estimating databases, labor units, and pricing information for continuous improvement.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of electrical estimating experience on commercial or light industrial projects.
- 2Proven ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications.
- 3Deep knowledge of NEC requirements and commercial electrical construction methods.
- 4Strong experience preparing complete project estimates from bid documents.
- 5Proficiency with Trimble Accubid Anywhere estimating software.
- 6Excellent organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
- 7Preferred experience with ConEst, McCormick, or similar electrical estimating software.
- 8Design-build estimating experience is a plus.
- 9Familiarity with Procore, Blueprint, and Microsoft Office is beneficial.
- 10Field experience as an electrician, foreman, or superintendent is preferred, along with exposure to industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, or municipal projects.
