CNC Machinist Lathe Department, 1st & 2nd Shift
Overview
You'll run CNC lathes in a high-mix job shop, producing precision parts to blueprint specs. Work on Fanuc and Mazatrol controls, with Mazak Multiplex and Mori Seiki multitask machines. Join a team of 20 machinists in an air-conditioned shop, reporting to the Lathe Department Lead. What You'll Do8
- 1Set up and operate CNC lathes to drill, mill, and turn parts per blueprint tolerances.
- 2Read blueprints and mechanical drawings to determine machining sequences and tooling.
- 3Write and edit G-code programs for Fanuc and Mazatrol controls.
- 4Load raw materials and parts, then run test cycles to verify output accuracy.
- 5Monitor machines during production cycles, adjusting feeds and speeds to hold quality.
- 6Inspect finished parts with micrometers and calipers, comparing to spec.
- 7Perform daily maintenance on lathes, including cleaning and lubricating.
- 8Assist other machinists on large or complex setups as needed.
Requirements9
- 12+ years operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- 2Hands-on experience with Fanuc or Mazatrol controls.
- 3Preferred: 1+ year on Mazak Multiplex or Mori Seiki multitask machines.
- 4Read blueprints and GD&T symbols accurately.
- 5Strong math skills for calculating speeds, feeds, and dimensions.
- 6Basic CAD/CAM knowledge for program edits.
- 7Proficiency with precision measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.
- 8High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate a plus.
- 9Physical ability to stand 8+ hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
