Overview

CNC Lathe Machinist leads precision machining operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to produce parts from metals plastics and alloys while ensuring quality and safety.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Set up CNC lathes according to blueprint specifications ensuring correct tooling fixtures and materials
  • 2Fabricate precision items using metals plastics and alloys
  • 3Select align and secure holding fixtures cutting tools and attachments onto CNC machines
  • 4Operate CNC lathes to produce parts meeting dimensional tolerance and surface finish requirements
  • 5Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining processes dimensions and tolerances
  • 6Conduct quality assurance checks using precision measuring instruments to verify part specifications
  • 7Make machine adjustments to correct deviations improve accuracy and maintain consistent production quality
  • 8Modify program speeds and feeds to optimize machining performance and part quality
  • 9Troubleshoot mechanical and machining issues taking corrective action to minimize downtime
  • 10Meet production schedules by planning work efficiently and maintaining steady output
  • 11Follow all safety regulations and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe work environment

Requirements11

  • 1Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment
  • 2Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
  • 3Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with machine operating and troubleshooting
  • 4Technical ability combined with solid basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • 5Hands-on experience working with various metal and plastic materials in machining processes
  • 6Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and other inspection instruments
  • 7Commitment to following safety regulations and quality standards in all machining activities
  • 8High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 9Completion of an apprenticeship or formal machining training program
  • 10Journeyman-level experience as a machinist is a plus
  • 11Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing GD&T
