Civil Construction Project Manager, Heavy Highway & TxDOT
Overview
You will own heavy highway and civil projects from preconstruction to closeout across the Houston area, managing budgets of $5M+ and schedules tied to TxDOT specs. You lead a team of superintendents and field crews, coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and agencies. This role blends office strategy with active onsite leadership, including weekly safety walkthroughs. Procore and Primavera proficiency will set you apart in a role that values direct oversight and problem-solving.
What You'll Do8
- 1Manage multiple highway and civil infrastructure projects, each with budgets up to $10M, from preconstruction through closeout.
- 2Oversee budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractors, and cost controls using Procore and Microsoft Project.
- 3Lead superintendents and field personnel onsite, driving daily progress and addressing risks before they hit the critical path.
- 4Attend weekly safety meetings and project walkthroughs, enforcing OSHA 30 standards and TxDOT compliance.
- 5Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress reports, keeping documentation audit-ready.
- 6Analyze cost impacts and forecast job costs, adjusting labor and material plans to protect margin.
- 7Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and government agencies, resolving scope or schedule conflicts.
- 8Support proposals and contract negotiations, leveraging your TxDOT experience to win new work.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of civil construction project management experience, ideally on highway or infrastructure projects.
- 2Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
- 3Working knowledge of TxDOT specifications and standards, with direct project experience preferred.
- 4Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling and management software.
- 5CAD experience is highly preferred.
- 6PMP certification or comparable project management credential.
- 7OSHA 30 certification.
- 8Authorized to work in the United States.
- 9Physical ability to navigate active job sites, work outdoors in varying weather, wear required PPE, and lift up to 25 pounds.
