Overview
The Children’s Museum of Manhattan seeks a visionary Chief Operating Officer to lead operational excellence during a historic expansion. In this role you will partner with the CEO to double the organization’s footprint while maintaining mission impact. You will oversee a growing team and modernize technology and human resources to support ambitious growth goals.
What You'll Do11
- 1Serve as primary strategic partner to the CEO translating vision into scalable operational strategies
- 2Collaborate with executive leadership and staff to align departments across visitor experience buildings operations exhibits maintenance security technology and human resources
- 3Lead organizational maturity by professionalizing systems workflows and policies for a doubled budget
- 4Oversee all functional areas of operations including Visitor Services HR IT security and maintenance
- 5Develop and manage the comprehensive Operations team budget aligned with scaling objectives
- 6Support high-profile events and public programming in partnership with development and educational teams
- 7Modernize enterprise technology to increase efficiency data accessibility and information accuracy
- 8Design and execute a people-centered People Operations strategy for a 60+ member team focusing on talent acquisition compensation and inclusive benefits
- 9Serve as executive leader of the Transition Team for the new museum at 96th Street and Central Park West
- 10Formulate a clear staffing and deployment model tailored to the new scaled facility
- 11Present regular operational updates to the Board of Directors with data-driven insights
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s degree required advanced degree preferred
- 210+ years executive operating experience at nonprofit or cultural institution
- 35+ years senior executive management with proven transformation leadership
- 4Demonstrated success scaling organizations and managing major transitions
- 5Strong crisis judgment and resourcefulness in fast-paced environments
- 6Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- 7Availability for 5 days in-person including weekends
- 8Experience with enterprise software auditing and implementation
- 9Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion principles
