Overview

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan seeks a strategic leader to serve as its inaugural Director of Membership. This role drives membership growth and transition to a new museum opening in 2028. The director will lead planning and execution through the move and shape future programs.

What You'll Do16

  • 1Lead membership strategy and program leadership for family membership including acquisition retention engagement and revenue growth
  • 2Redesign membership levels pricing benefits and positioning with museum leadership and partners
  • 3Ensure free and discounted membership offerings are integrated into future program with clear access goals
  • 4Develop multiyear revenue and membership projections through FY30 and beyond
  • 5Partner with Individual Giving to create pathways for deeper philanthropic engagement
  • 6Lead multiyear membership transition and opening-readiness plan for new museum
  • 7Create comprehensive member communications and engagement plan covering website email social media and on-site channels
  • 8Define audiences offers and performance goals for year-round member campaigns
  • 9Improve member journey from purchase to philanthropic engagement through collaborations with Guest Services and Special Events
  • 10Oversee membership processing renewals upgrades cancellations gift memberships and benefit fulfillment
  • 11Define data and technology requirements and partner with Development Operations for CRM ticketing and digital membership systems
  • 12Establish reporting metrics for membership revenue acquisition retention conversion and campaign performance
  • 13Supervise Membership Manager and temporary staff ensuring consistent member experience
  • 14Guide a team through major organizational transitions such as relocation expansion or opening
  • 15Engage consultants agencies and vendors translating recommendations into coordinated execution
  • 16Maintain strong analytical skills using data to segment audiences forecast outcomes and guide decisions

Requirements12

  • 1Seven or more years of progressive experience in membership audience engagement development or similar recurring revenue programs
  • 2Proven success managing growing or impactful membership programs
  • 3Strong analytical fluency using data for segmentation forecasting and decision making
  • 4Understanding of lifecycle marketing acquisition onboarding renewal reactivation testing and measurement
  • 5Experience with CRM membership ticketing email marketing or related systems
  • 6Ability to supervise staff and lead cross departmental initiatives
  • 7Initiative adaptability and comfort creating structure amid change
  • 8Preferred experience in museums cultural institutions family focused nonprofits or visitor serving organizations
  • 9Understanding of household decision making versus individual adult audiences
  • 10Experience guiding teams through major transitions relocation expansion or opening
  • 11Exposure to annual giving and membership as a pathway to deeper philanthropy
  • 12Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge NXT and integrated membership admissions ticketing marketing systems
