Overview

As the inaugural Chief of Staff, you will act as a direct extension of the CEO, driving execution across all NORY operations. You own the CEO's priorities, calendar, and information flow, turning strategy into action plans and holding leaders accountable. You work in-person in New York, with compensation at $80,000–$120,000. This role suits a high-agency operator who thrives on ambiguity and impact, not title.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Represent the CEO in internal meetings, translating leadership direction into clear action plans and holding leaders accountable to commitments and timelines.
  • 2Track decisions from every meeting, assign ownership, close loops relentlessly, and resolve risks before escalation is needed.
  • 3Manage the CEO's calendar, information flow, and travel logistics, triaging requests and filtering communication to protect high-impact focus.
  • 4Drive cross-functional initiatives across hiring pipelines, onboarding systems, customer experience escalation, and internal operating rhythms (SOPs, reporting, planning).
  • 5Make priority and scheduling tradeoffs on behalf of the CEO, escalating only truly critical decisions.
  • 6Build scalable systems for organizational execution and leadership alignment, preventing problems rather than applying quick fixes.
  • 7Stay attuned to organization-wide morale, raising concerns proactively while fostering positive interactions with staff and families.

Requirements8

  • 13+ years in an operations, strategy, or chief of staff role in a high-growth environment, with proven ownership of complex projects.
  • 2Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous goals and turn them into concrete, measurable plans.
  • 3Track record of holding yourself and others accountable for outcomes, with no dropped balls.
  • 4Strong judgment in data-driven decision-making, even with incomplete information.
  • 5Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to represent executive leadership clearly and diplomatically.
  • 6Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and handle high-pressure requests constructively.
  • 7Empathy and interpersonal skills to build trust across all levels, from staff to families.
  • 8Willingness to work onsite in New York City, with immediate availability.
