Operations Representative, Museum Science Center
Overview
You own guest entry and operations at a science center serving 5 million visitors a year. You scan tickets, manage capacity, and run venues like the 4D Theater and Theater of Electricity. You work across a team of 20+ staff and report to the Manager of Visitor Services. This role stands out for its mix of frontline guest service and operational problem-solving in a landmark institution.
What You'll Do8
- 1Scan tickets and memberships at exhibit hall entrances, 4D Theater, and special exhibits.
- 2Manage venue capacity and enforce admission policies to keep entry smooth and safe.
- 3Operate 4D Theater and other venues, following safety protocols and reporting equipment issues.
- 4Welcome school groups, confirm counts for payment, brief chaperones, and coordinate lunch rotations.
- 5Assist with evacuations during emergencies, staying calm and clear.
- 6Support divisional needs across Public Science Common and Theater of Electricity.
- 7Provide accessibility equipment like wheelchairs and listening devices to guests.
- 8Upsell museum offerings to meet sales goals, matching guest interests to programs.
Requirements8
- 11+ year in guest service or operations, ideally in high-volume settings.
- 2Experience multi-tasking in fast-paced environments.
- 3Ability to stand 50% of the shift, walk 40%, and lift 10-15 lbs.
- 4Comfort with ticketing systems and POS software.
- 5Skills in de-escalation and conflict resolution.
- 6Flexibility for weekend and evening shifts, including Fridays.
- 7Multilingual abilities, especially Spanish or Haitian Creole.
