Working under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, you will document progress, educate families, and manage treatment areas. What You'll Do7

  • 1Guide residents through therapeutic exercises to improve motor skills, sensory processing, and daily function, leveraging COTA techniques.
  • 2Document resident progress, treatments, and observations as directed, ensuring accurate records for the OT team.
  • 3Support Occupational Therapists by implementing treatment plans and adjusting activities based on resident response.
  • 4Educate residents and family members on adaptive equipment use and exercise programs to extend progress beyond sessions.
  • 5Set up and maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, preparing materials and managing therapy supplies to ensure readiness.
  • 6Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to align rehabilitation goals with overall care plans.
  • 7Adapt exercises for residents with varying cognitive and physical abilities, ensuring safety and engagement.

Requirements6

  • 1Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • 2Current license in the state of Maryland as a COTA.
  • 31+ years of experience in a geriatric or subacute facility preferred.
  • 4Certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • 5Active membership in state and national AOTA preferred.
  • 6Ability to follow directions from the Occupational Therapist and adhere to facility policies.
