CDL Driver Trainer, OTR & Regional Safety Instructor
Overview
Own the classroom and behind-the-wheel training for CDL drivers at scale, shaping safer, more professional drivers across our operations. You will lead regulatory instruction, hands-on tractor-trailer training, and performance assessments in-person at our Atlanta facility. This role emphasizes safety, communication, and mentorship, with resources provided to grow as an instructor.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build comprehensive classroom sessions on FMCSA DOT and traffic regulations and deliver hands-on tractor-trailer training
- 2Design and administer practical training with manual transmission and air brake systems to develop real-world driving proficiency
- 3Evaluate trainee performance during behind-the-wheel exercises and provide constructive feedback to elevate safety and skills
- 4Prepare and align training materials and assessments with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- 5Maintain detailed trainee progress records to ensure compliance with company policy and federal regulations
- 6Stay updated on industry changes related to commercial driving, tanker operations, bus driving, and other specialized vehicle categories
- 7Foster a positive learning environment that motivates students to excel while emphasizing safety and professionalism
Requirements9
- 1Valid CDL with experience in commercial driving instruction or classroom teaching within a transportation setting
- 2Experience training OTR and/or regional drivers
- 3Strong knowledge of safe driving practices
- 4Excellent communication and coaching skills
- 5Professional attitude and dependable work ethic
- 6Ability to interpret and apply FMCSA standards during training sessions
- 7Clean, responsible driving history
- 8Pay: From $24.00 per hour
- 9Work Location: In person
