Buyer's Assistant, Auto Inventory & Merchandising
Overview
You will own vehicle imaging and inventory accuracy for CarMax's largest retail locations, capturing high-quality photos for CarMax.com and supporting auction operations. You'll work within a collaborative Merchandising team, partnering with Inventory and Sales to ensure every vehicle is presented accurately. This role offers direct exposure to the full lifecycle of used car merchandising, from appraisal verification to auction day execution. You'll gain hands-on experience with imaging technology and inventory systems while contributing to the nation's largest used car retailer.
What You'll Do8
- 1Capture high-quality images of wholesale vehicles for CarMax.com and internal databases, ensuring visual accuracy.
- 2Secure and verify vehicles, confirming appraisal information and resolving discrepancies in vehicle data.
- 3Perform vehicle confirmations and transfers, communicating details to Inventory and Sales teams promptly.
- 4Assist with inventory optioning to maintain accurate VIN-based records and trim-level specifications.
- 5Support lot staging and merchandising projects, organizing vehicles for optimal display and customer flow.
- 6Provide auction support, including imaging, staging, scanning barcodes, and assisting on auction day.
- 7Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- 8Partner with Customer Service and Sales teams to ensure seamless handoffs on vehicle showcase and delivery.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of experience in retail, automotive, or inventory roles, with a focus on customer service.
- 2Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and collaborate across departments.
- 3Strong skills to read, interpret, and maintain accurate records and inventory data.
- 4Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while meeting daily deadlines.
- 5Effective verbal communication and listening skills for internal and external interactions.
- 6Flexibility to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods.
- 7Valid driver's license and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
