Business Unit Leader, Automotive Manufacturing
Overview
You own production outcomes for a high-volume unionized assembly plant. You lead Supervisors and Team Leaders to hit daily build schedules, uphold quality standards, and drive safety culture. Your team of skilled trades and operators depends on your clear direction. You implement Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) standards, coach supervisors, and solve throughput problems at scale. This role puts you at the center of plant operations with direct accountability for shift performance.
What You'll Do10
- 1Run daily production to meet build schedule and model mix targets
- 2Lead shift start-up meetings, assign manpower, and adjust for absenteeism
- 3Audit manufacturing processes for safety, quality, and throughput gaps
- 4Implement SIS standards across the production area
- 5Coach Supervisors and Team Leaders on quality and throughput improvement
- 6Coordinate with maintenance to plan downtime without losing output
- 7Track and report shift metrics on safety, quality, cost, and morale
- 8Resolve quality system deviations and re-establish standards
- 9Facilitate cross-functional communication between lines and support teams
- 10Own corrective actions for safety and quality incidents
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field
- 25+ years in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- 32+ years supervising hourly team members in a unionized plant
- 4Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
- 5Experience implementing lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement
- 6Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- 7Flexibility to work any shift, overtime, and weekends
- 8Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- 9Ability to build relationships with plant leadership and internal customers
