Business Operations Manager, Financial Strategy & AI Tools
Overview
Own high-priority, cross-functional initiatives at Check, the embedded payroll platform, driving strategic analysis and execution for the CFO and leadership team. You will build financial models, design process improvements, and apply AI tools to analytics and workflow automation. This first dedicated Business Operations role partners with leaders to solve critical business issues and scale the company. You'll work in a lean team that values deep ownership and curiosity, with the opportunity to shape how the business operates.
What You'll Do6
- 1Own end-to-end delivery of high-priority initiatives, from scoping to execution and measurement, partnering with leaders across the company.
- 2Define and prioritize strategic questions with executives, using data and financial analysis to guide decisions.
- 3Identify operational bottlenecks and design process improvements that drive efficiency and margin, incorporating AI tools where effective.
- 4Develop and maintain critical operating metrics and reporting cadences, translating data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- 5Apply AI tools and agents to analysis, reporting, and workflow design to accelerate outcomes across the finance function.
- 6Build relationships and drive alignment across functions, ensuring buy-in for strategic recommendations and execution plans.
Requirements7
- 16+ years of total work experience, including 2+ years in investment banking or consulting and 2+ years in a high-growth startup in Business Operations, Strategy & Ops, or Strategic Finance.
- 2Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks.
- 3Comfort operating with high autonomy and shifting priorities, managing multiple workstreams in an ambiguous environment.
- 4Demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive alignment across functions and seniority levels.
- 5Familiarity with AI tools and agents to accelerate workflows is a must.
- 6Experience in fintech, payments, or embedded/vertical SaaS is a plus.
- 7SQL proficiency or equivalent analytical depth is a plus.
