AI Finance Operations Manager
Overview
You will own the full revenue dollar journey at Tread, an AI-native vertical SaaS platform for construction materials logistics. You'll build the strategic finance, FP&A, and revenue operations function from scratch, leveraging AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to automate workflows. You'll report directly to the CEO and sit in the room where decisions get made, turning ambiguous questions into quantified recommendations. This role is for an investment banking or growth equity professional who wants to operate from the inside, owning the model, board materials, and cash position. You'll write the playbook for an AI-first finance function, setting the standard for a lean, high-velocity team.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain the company's operating model, budget, and rolling forecast in Excel and Google Sheets, making it the source of truth for leadership decisions.
- 2Own unit economics for a vertical SaaS and usage business: track ARR, NRR, CAC, payback, gross margin, magic number, and burn multiple, and identify the levers that matter most.
- 3Turn ambiguous questions like pricing changes, new segments, hiring plans, and go/no-go decisions into clear, quantified recommendations using Python and SQL for analysis.
- 4Create board decks, data room materials, and the investor reporting package, defending every number with confidence.
- 5Lead cash-flow forecasting, runway analysis, and scenario planning in Excel to ensure no surprises on cash position.
- 6Streamline the quote-to-cash workflow using Stripe and Salesforce integrations, ensuring ARR is live, reconciled, and trustworthy.
- 7Run the operating cadence: build KPI dashboards in Looker or Tableau, and drive weekly business reviews with agreed-upon metrics.
- 8Automate finance and ops tasks using Zapier and n8n to handle reconciliations, variance narratives, and data cleanup, cutting manual work by 80%.
- 9Design the finance and ops tech stack, integrating billing, ERP/accounting, and CRM tools to enable seamless data flow without manual handoffs.
- 10Write the playbook for an AI-first finance function, documenting processes and standards for future team members.
Requirements7
- 12-5 years in investment banking, growth equity, private equity, or strategic finance/corporate development.
- 2Elite financial modeling skills: can build a three-statement model and operating model from a blank sheet in Excel.
- 3Strong analytical skills with experience using SQL and Python for data analysis.
- 4Proven track record of using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT to accelerate work output.
- 5Extreme ownership and comfort with ambiguity; you thrive without an established org chart or process.
- 6Executive-level communication, able to shift between founder, board member, and customer controller conversations on the same day.
- 7No task is beneath you; you'd rather ship the answer than hand off a recommendation.
