Buildings and Grounds Specialist, Facilities Maintenance & Events Support
Overview
HVAC and facilities maintenance professional who supports day to day operations and major events at a historic site. Responsible for routine trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting, snow removal, and equipment maintenance while assisting the events team with seasonal setup. Maintains building and grounds cleanliness and safety, and coordinates with contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed on schedule. Collaborates with staff and volunteers to support museum programs and campus operations, including on call emergencies.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and oversee routine maintenance visits from contractors and process vendor invoices
- 2Design and execute daily facility tasks to ensure operational readiness across buildings and grounds
- 3Lead snow removal and ice control operations during regular and off hours to keep campus accessible
- 4Ship and track purchases for maintenance supplies and maintain accurate inventories
- 5Own records for inspections, purchases, and building automation software usage including Munis
- 6Scale readiness for major NHS events by coordinating with events teams and external vendors
- 7Drive safety programs and incident reporting to reduce accidents and improve compliance
- 8Manage on call rotation for mechanical, utility, and safety issues and coordinate with internal staff and contractors
- 9Debug and repair building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and painting as needed
- 10Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to maintain equipment, tools, and serviceability

- 1Must be able to work on site in Naperville Illinois
- 2Demonstrated multi trade capabilities including plumbing electrical HVAC painting and carpentry
- 3Experience coordinating contractors vendors and service providers for projects
- 4Ability to manage records inspections and safety compliance and to work with building automation systems
- 5Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff and volunteers
- 6Ability to lift and work at heights and operate safety equipment
- 7Comfort working in varied weather and near water and hazardous environments
- 8On call availability including evenings and weekends for events and emergencies
- 9Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks meet deadlines and work independently or in a team
Salary Insight
$60 - $65k per year
