Overview

Build fix and maintain building systems across a portfolio of Chicago properties. Urban Innovations Ltd assigns you to multiple sites where you own repairs, tenant service requests, and system upkeep. You work alongside Property Managers and a Tenant Services Coordinator, reporting directly to the PM. Your week runs Tuesday to Saturday, with a schedule that lets you handle urgent issues before weekend tenants arrive.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Execute repair and maintenance tasks on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems
  • 2Respond to tenant service requests, coordinating with the Tenant Services Coordinator
  • 3Inspect, adjust, repair, and install electrical components, from light fixtures to motors and transformers
  • 4Perform minor emergency fixes: replace broken pipes, clean drains, swap faucets, washers, and gaskets
  • 5Assemble and repair furniture, plus minor door hardware fixes
  • 6Update equipment and maintenance logs after each task
  • 7Test and install lighting fixtures, and use testing devices to locate electrical faults
  • 8Maintain locks and door hardware, including switches, gauges, thermostats, and valves
  • 9Report unsafe conditions, material needs, and shortages to the Property Manager

Requirements9

  • 12+ years of experience in building maintenance or a related trade
  • 2HVAC and electrical system repair knowledge
  • 3Plumbing repair skills, including drain cleaning and fixture replacement
  • 4Ability to assemble furniture and perform minor carpentry
  • 5Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • 6Comfortable using testing devices and hand tools
  • 7Capable of lifting 50+ pounds and working on ladders
  • 8High school diploma or equivalent
  • 9Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM and Saturday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM availability
