Maintenance Technician - Chicago, IL
Overview
You will own daily maintenance for apartment units, common areas, and exterior grounds across Chicago's north side. You will handle tenant requests, minor repairs, and safety system checks. You will work with a nimble real estate team that values execution and resident satisfaction. This role suits a self-starter who can manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
What You'll Do7
- 1Respond to assigned tenant maintenance requests within 24 hours, prioritizing urgent issues like leaks or lockouts.
- 2Repair and maintain apartment units, including drywall, painting, lock changes, and fixture replacements.
- 3Inspect and troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to identify and fix failures.
- 4Check functionality of safety systems, including fire alarms, and report any issues to management.
- 5Clean common areas and prepare vacant units for turnover, ensuring they meet company standards.
- 6Collaborate with contractors and other workers during renovation projects to ensure quality and timeline.
- 7Drive to scatter site properties daily, carrying tools and parts needed for scheduled work.
Requirements8
- 13+ years experience as a maintenance technician, with hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
- 2Ability to work full-time, 5 days per week between Mondays and Saturdays, and take after-hours calls.
- 3Valid driver's license and reliable car for daily travel to properties in north side Chicago.
- 4Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and the internet for work orders and communication.
- 5Proven ability to complete projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- 6Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a demanding environment.
- 7Professional and calm demeanor when interacting with residents and team members.
- 8Knowledge of boiler systems is a plus.
