Bridge Engineer, Structural Design & Inspection
Overview
You will own bridge and structural design delivery for Tennessee infrastructure projects, from concept through construction. You will lead calculations, plans, and specifications with increasing complexity under senior review. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers on small to mid-sized projects. What You'll Do9
- 1Serve as a design engineer for bridges and transportation structures, covering new design, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair
- 2Lead, assign, and review work while providing technical guidance to team members
- 3Develop engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and contract documents
- 4Evaluate engineering alternatives and apply sound judgment in design decisions
- 5Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle
- 6Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and design deliverables
- 7Perform structural analysis and design with increasing complexity under senior review
- 8Provide mentorship and oversight to junior structural engineers on small to mid-sized projects
- 9Coordinate across disciplines (transportation, geotechnical, drainage, etc.) to ensure integrated solutions
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 27+ years of bridge engineering experience
- 3Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6-12 months
- 4Strong experience in structural analysis and design
- 5Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- 6Experience with Bentley software suite (e.g., OpenBridge, MicroStation)
- 7Proficiency with structural analysis tools (e.g., Midas, LEAP or similar)
- 8Strong written and verbal communication skills
