Behavioral Health Specialist Emergency Department, Banner Health
Overview
Own direct care for psychiatric patients within a Level I trauma center in a large hospital network. You will work on a 56-bed behavioral health unit in the Emergency Department and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient experience. This role focuses on safety, therapeutic milieu, and evidence-based interventions in a high-acuity setting. What You'll Do5
- 1Build patient care plans with nursing staff to monitor vital signs and medical status
- 2Provide therapeutic interaction with patients and families to support dignity and autonomy
- 3Participate in safety monitoring and crisis interventions including redirection and de-escalation as needed
- 4Document observations and interventions in the patient medical record maintaining confidentiality
- 5Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers and group activities to promote rehabilitation and activity engagement
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health related field OR High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year of direct patient care in an inpatient behavioral health setting
- 2Experience in an inpatient psychiatric facility or equivalent
- 3Knowledge of medications commonly prescribed for behavioral health patients and their side effects
- 4Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or State required clearance if applicable
- 5Basic Life Support BLS certification
