Behavior Therapist Intern, ABA Therapy
Overview
You will provide direct ABA instruction to children with special needs across home and community settings in Garden City. You will work under a BCBA to implement educational plans, collect session data, and communicate with families. This paid internship builds clinical hours for human services students and offers training through ACHIEVE BEYOND's paperless systems. You will join a collaborative team that prioritizes ethical, high-quality pediatric therapy.
What You'll Do6
- 1Deliver direct ABA instruction based on plans from the BCBA during home and community sessions.
- 2Participate in team meetings with the BCBA and fellow therapists to adjust strategies.
- 3Debrief with families after each session, sharing resources and home practice strategies.
- 4Record daily session data into the paperless data collection system and update the child's program book weekly.
- 5Maintain confidential child and family records per State and Federal regulations.
- 6Attend ACHIEVE BEYOND trainings and team-building events to refine clinical skills.
Requirements8
- 11+ year working with children in a supervised setting or current enrollment in a psychology, healthcare, human services, or education program.
- 2Experience using ABA techniques (preferred, not required).
- 3Completion of 20-hour classroom training from ACHIEVE BEYOND and a passing score on their competency exam.
- 4Self-motivated team player with patience and professionalism.
- 5Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- 6Strong communication skills with children, families, and supervisors.
- 7Comfort working in home-based settings.
- 8Available weekday afternoons and weekends.
