Automation Engineer – Manufacturing Operations
Overview
The Automation Engineer leads development and deployment of automated systems at a Raleigh imaging facility. This role owns process control optimization and acts as a technical resource for DCS and PLC automation while managing medium to large projects. The position requires expertise in cGMP environments and involves cross-functional collaboration.

- 9Interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
- 10Communicate project status and concerns to cross-functional teams
- 11Manage production data according to cGMP standards
- 12Translate project requirements into automation solutions
- 13Monitor and control automation project scope schedule and budget
- 14Create and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project
- 15Deliver regular status updates highlighting progress and risks
- 16Prioritize competing demands to meet business needs
- 17Manage Change Requests CAPAs and corrective actions
- 18Maintain safety compliance and report incidents promptly
- 19Enforce EHS procedures and investigate incidents thoroughly
- 20Conduct root cause analysis for safety and environmental events
Requirements17
- 13–5 years experience programming and troubleshooting DCS and PLC/HMI systems
- 2Hands-on experience with Foxboro I/A Systems
- 3Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms
- 4Pharmaceutical or regulated industrial environment experience under cGMP
- 5Proven track record designing industrial automation and control systems
- 6Ability to read and understand P&IDs and control schematics
- 7Experience designing industrial communication networks
- 8Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Instrumentation or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 9Self-starter comfortable with minimal supervision
- 10Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 11Knowledge of computer system validation principles in regulated settings
- 12Preferred experience in formulation packaging manufacturing
- 13Passion for process improvement and best practice development
- 14Ability to collaborate with global teams on automation initiatives
- 15Comfort using Microsoft Project or equivalent PM software
- 16Strong organizational skills managing multiple projects
