Assistant Store Manager, Retail Operations
Overview
You will own daily operations of a high-volume Goodwill retail store, driving sales, donations, and team performance across the South Denver Metro area. Reporting to the Retail Store Manager, you will lead a team of 20-30 staff, oversee merchandising, donation processing, and customer service, and ensure financial goals are met. This role includes bench assignments that may require temporary coverage at other locations. You will receive immediate training on POS systems, safety protocols, and OSHA standards. What You'll Do8
- 1Own daily store operations: sales floor, donation center, production areas, and storage, maintaining safety and productivity standards.
- 2Lead and motivate a team of 20-30 retail staff, including hiring, performance management, and goal setting for at least one department.
- 3Drive revenue and donation growth by implementing merchandising strategies, pricing models, and loss prevention measures.
- 4Certify on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, and hand dolly to move product and train staff on safe equipment use.
- 5Oversee financial performance: budgeting, reporting, and profit and loss analysis, partnering with the Store Manager to maximize expense-to-revenue ratios.
- 6Conduct training meetings using Outlook and UKG to align staff with operational procedures and company policies.
- 7Respond to after-hours alarm notifications and adapt to varied schedules, including weekends and holidays, to ensure full store coverage.
- 8Collaborate with management on business development initiatives and support temporary assignments as a bench manager.
Requirements8
- 12+ years supervising retail operations with accountability for business and financial results.
- 2High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- 3Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based applications like UKG.
- 4Ability to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification.
- 5Valid Colorado driver's license and ability to drive for company business, meeting insurance carrier requirements.
- 6Open availability for weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- 7Ability to relocate within assigned region (South Denver Metro) for temporary assignments.
- 8Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills to interpret financial statements and operational data.
