Overview

As Assistant Store Manager, you will own the in-store experience at a high-volume Lids retail location, driving sales and team performance while the Store Manager is away. You will manage a team of up to 10 associates, ensuring they meet sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service. You will execute visual merchandising standards using MPOS and Lids Custom technology, and you will handle scheduling, inventory, and customer escalations. This role combines operational leadership with hands-on coaching, giving you direct impact on store results. Working in a fast-paced retail environment, you'll gain experience in loss prevention, team development, and visual presentation, preparing you for a Store Manager role.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Lead the sales floor during assigned shifts, coaching associates to hit daily sales goals with KPIs like units per transaction and average dollar sale
  • 2Manage store schedule and staffing, including calling in extra help for peak hours to maintain coverage and service levels
  • 3Train new hires on LIDS Training Programs and product knowledge, ensuring they can sell embroidery and membership benefits
  • 4Resolve customer complaints and escalations on the spot, using the 'make it right' approach to turn negatives into positive experiences
  • 5Execute daily visual merchandising updates, including mannequin flips, window changes, and weekly promotions to match Lids brand standards
  • 6Audit MPOS and Lids Custom equipment each shift, troubleshooting issues and placing service requests to keep tech running
  • 7Process inventory receiving and transfers, and count stock to maintain accuracy and minimize shrinkage
  • 8Open and close the store following cash management and security procedures, including till reconciliation and bank drops
  • 9Prepare the backroom for efficiency, organizing supplies and product to maximize space and accessibility

Requirements8

  • 11+ years in retail or customer service, with 6+ months in a supervisory or keyholder role
  • 2Proven ability to meet sales targets and drive team performance, as shown in prior store metrics
  • 3Strong verbal communication skills to coach employees and handle customer issues professionally
  • 4Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions under pressure, such as during manager absence
  • 5Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with open availability for part-time shifts
  • 6Physical ability to stand for full shifts, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders for stock retrieval
  • 7Basic computer skills to operate POS systems and email, with the ability to learn Lids Custom software
  • 8Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
