Assistant Store Manager, Grocery Operations
Overview
Direct the daily operation of store departments, owning performance to hit sales and profit targets. Manage department managers and associates, ensuring policies, merchandising, and labor align with company standards. This role reports to the General Store Manager and requires handling guest issues and store operations in their absence. It stands out for its focus on developing teams and driving results through the Value Equation Process.
What You'll Do8
- 1Run daily operations of assigned departments, using the Value Equation Process to maintain efficiency and operating conditions.
- 2Drive cash flow for reporting departments, comparing actuals to forecasts, identifying gaps, and approving corrective action plans.
- 3Approve labor schedules and track department performance through M.A.P., adjusting as needed.
- 4Oversee ordering practices, implementing fixes to control inventory and reduce waste.
- 5Approve merchandising programs, ensuring they fit within company policy and boost sales.
- 6Enforce company policies, procedures, and government compliance across departments.
- 7Train, coach, and evaluate department managers and associates, fostering a skilled and motivated team.
- 8Resolve guest complaints and handle total store operations when the Store Director or GSM is absent.
Requirements7
- 11-2 years as a Department Manager or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2High school education or equivalent work experience.
- 3Solid math skills for budgeting, labor, and reporting.
- 4Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
- 5Product knowledge across departments like grocery, produce, and deli.
- 6Strong training and coaching skills to develop associates.
- 7Thorough understanding of store operations, including the Value Equation Process and M.A.P..
