Overview

As the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Pro Med HealthCare Services, you will own nursing operations across our behavioral health facility in New Baltimore, MI, supervising 15+ direct reports and collaborating with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). You will manage day-to-day clinical care, staff development, and regulatory compliance in a unionized environment. With a consistent Monday-Friday day shift and on-call every other weekend, this role offers both stability and leadership impact. You will drive clinical excellence and process improvements while ensuring patient-centered care for behavioral health patients. This is a permanent placement with a salary range of $110,000-$125,000.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Direct daily nursing operations, including staffing, resource allocation, and patient care coordination, and step in for the DON during absences.
  • 2Lead, mentor, and supervise 15+ direct reports, overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement in a union setting.
  • 3Drive clinical excellence by implementing workflow enhancements and process improvements to elevate department outcomes and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • 4Model patient-centered care by evaluating physical, biopsychosocial, developmental, and cultural needs of behavioral health patients, and provide direct care as needed.
  • 5Intervene in crisis situations, conduct incident investigations, and ensure accurate nursing documentation across all shifts.
  • 6Collaborate with leadership on budget management and efficient resource utilization to support sustainable operations.
  • 7Develop and mentor nursing staff through training and professional development opportunities, fostering a culture of accountability and credibility.
  • 8Ensure strict adherence to CPR and de-escalation/restraint protocols, maintaining certifications and compliance standards.

Requirements8

  • 1Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan or multi-state compact license required.
  • 2Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher strongly preferred.
  • 31+ year of progressive nursing leadership or management experience required; prior Nurse Manager experience strongly preferred (charge nurse experience alone is not sufficient).
  • 4Proven experience managing 15+ direct reports and larger care teams.
  • 5Experience in a unionized healthcare environment strongly preferred.
  • 62+ years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience required (5+ years preferred).
  • 71+ year of experience in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery setting (inpatient or outpatient) required.
  • 8CPR certification required; de-escalation/restraint certification required (training provided upon hire); First Aid certification as required by state/facility standards.
