Overview
The UIL Assistant Academic Director leads speech competitions and supports academic programs. This role owns statewide speech events and collaborates closely with the UIL Academic Director. What You'll Do9
- 1Administer UIL speech debate and congress competitions as assigned by the Academic Director
- 2Design and facilitate workshops for coaches and competitors on speech administration
- 3Develop handbooks and training materials for contest officials and participants
- 4Oversee rule interpretation and eligibility queries for speech events
- 5Act as liaison between UIL committees and external associations
- 6Track competition trends to recommend event improvements
- 7Coordinate logistics for state conventions and training sessions
- 8Supervise administrative teams during high-pressure periods
- 9Ensure compliance with UIL policies and documentation standards
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree with five years teaching or administration experience
- 2Five years experience coordinating UIL academic programs
- 3Advanced degree preferred with UIL program leadership
- 4Proven success as speech coach or competition official
- 5Three-year driving record from current state of residence
- 6Class C operator's license available
- 7Ability to travel and work evenings weekends holidays
- 8Strong interpersonal skills for public school collaboration
- 9Background check clearance required
