Asset Protection Detective, Retail Security & Investigations
Overview
Protect company assets and support a safe shopping environment at Macy's in Scottsdale. You will use surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify theft, recover merchandise, and deter dishonest activity. This role combines field investigations with customer-focused loss prevention in a large retail setting. You will contribute to shrink reduction and a welcoming store experience that enables customers to shop with confidence.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build investigations to identify and respond to theft and shortage trends
- 2Lead the use of surveillance and reporting systems to document incidents and support investigations
- 3Partner with store teams, Asset Protection leaders, and law enforcement to protect assets
- 4Prepare clear documentation, statements, and evidence for investigations and legal proceedings
- 5Support training of colleagues on asset protection protocols and safety practices
- 6Apprehend shoplifters and dishonesty within company policies and legal requirements
- 7Maintain compliance with policies and legal standards for apprehensions and evidence handling
- 8Testify in court for criminal and civil cases when needed
- 9Respond to alarm calls and support special assignments and first aid when necessary
- 10Foster a respectful, inclusive environment that strengthens stakeholder relationships
Requirements10
- 1Current New York State Security Guard License if applicable
- 2Experience in retail, customer service, asset protection, security, investigations, or law enforcement
- 3Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment
- 4Strong communication skills to partner effectively with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement
- 5Ability to prepare accurate reports and documentation related to incidents and investigations
- 6Experience using surveillance systems, reporting tools, or investigative technology
- 7Ability to train or coach colleagues on asset protection protocols and shortage reduction
- 8Prolonged standing/walking in a store environment and ability to apprehend shoplifters
- 9Ability to lift up to 30lbs and navigate surveillance workspaces
- 10Commitment to confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive information
