Accounting Manager, Healthcare & GAAP
Overview
You will own the full accounting cycle for a company supporting 1,700+ mental health providers and 23,000 weekly clients. Reporting to the Controller, you will drive monthly close, audit readiness, and tax compliance across GAAP standards. You will manage a staff of accountants, set clear expectations, and foster cross-department collaboration. What You'll Do9
- 1Build and run the monthly close cycle, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger entries to deliver accurate statements.
- 2Drive audit readiness by preparing schedules, supporting external auditors, and ensuring GAAP compliance in all reports.
- 3Manage accounting staff, setting expectations, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews to grow talent.
- 4File city, state, and local taxes on time, maintaining licenses and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- 5Enforce internal controls and accounting policies, updating them as processes evolve.
- 6Act as financial liaison for provider members, answering billing and payment questions via email, phone, or in person.
- 7Identify process gaps and launch improvement projects to cut cycle time and revenue leakage.
- 8Collaborate with the Controller to publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- 9Own the design of the accounting department structure to meet growth targets.
Requirements6
- 16+ years on a corporate accounting team with GAAP financial statement audit experience.
- 2Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA license strongly preferred.
- 3In-depth knowledge of GAAP principles and application.
- 4Healthcare or medical billing industry experience highly preferred.
- 5Advanced Excel and Word skills for analysis and reporting.
- 6Hands-on experience with ERP software like Sage Intacct or NetSuite.
