Accounting Manager Close and Reporting
Overview
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for a $500M national distributor, ensuring GAAP-compliant financial statements. Lead and mentor a team of Accounting Analysts while coordinating with Finance, Sales, and Marketing to deliver accurate reporting. Drive process improvements and monitor new accounting standards to keep reporting current. This role offers exposure to executive leadership and external auditors in a stable, family-owned company.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, delivering accurate financial statements within tight deadlines
- 2Oversee preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for internal and external stakeholders
- 3Enforce GAAP compliance across all reporting, adapting to new standards and regulatory changes
- 4Coordinate with Finance, Sales, and Marketing to gather data and ensure complete close information
- 5Supervise and mentor Accounting Analysts, providing coaching and development to build team capability
- 6Analyze financial results and variances, presenting insights and recommendations to senior management
- 7Develop and implement policies to improve close efficiency and reporting accuracy
- 8Manage external auditor relationships, coordinating audits and ensuring timely completion
- 9Support regulatory filings and special projects as requested by the Assistant Controller or CFO
Requirements7
- 15+ years supervisory experience in financial reporting or similar role
- 2Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 3CPA certification required
- 4In-depth knowledge of GAAP and other accounting standards
- 5Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- 6Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- 7Successful completion of 90-day orientation period and execution of Employment Agreement
