General Accountant, GAAP & Month-End Close
Overview
This role owns the full accounting cycle for a global stone distributor with factory-direct facilities on both coasts. You will reconcile accounts, maintain the general ledger, and drive month-end and year-end close procedures. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, you will collaborate with Staff and Junior Accountants, use MS Excel with V-Lookups and Pivot Tables, and ensure full GAAP compliance. You will directly influence financial procedures and internal controls, and your work will support strategic decisions in a company with a three-decade history. What You'll Do10
- 1Reconcile account balances and bank statements, and maintain the general ledger with GAAP compliance.
- 2Prepare and present error-free financial reports, summarizing results for management review.
- 3Analyze financial information to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and spending trends, and recommend improvements.
- 4Support month-end and year-end closing, ensuring all journal entries and adjustments are accurate and timely.
- 5Assist with tax audits and tax returns, providing documentation and analysis to ensure compliance.
- 6Review and modify accounting systems and procedures, collaborating with the Accounting Supervisor and Manager.
- 7Prepare financial statements and budgets according to schedule, aligning with company goals.
- 8Document business processes and accounting policies, strengthening internal controls.
- 9Direct internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company standards.

Requirements7
- 12-3 years of accounting experience with a strong grasp of basic accounting procedures.
- 2In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial accounting statements.
- 3Hands-on experience with accounting software packages and general ledger functions.
- 4Advanced MS Excel skills including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables.
- 5BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant certification such as CPA.
- 6Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
