Overview
You will own the physical installation and testing of access control systems across commercial and residential sites in the Sacramento area. Working under senior technicians, you will run cable, mount devices, and configure software for Lenel and Genetec platforms. You will join a 12-person field team known for clean, code-compliant work. This contract role offers steady project flow and a pathway to senior technician.
What You'll Do8
- 1Install card readers, keypads, door strikes, and maglocks, wiring each to manufacturer specs
- 2Run and terminate Cat5e and Cat6 cabling, coaxial, and power cables for access control panels
- 3Mount control panels and power supplies, ensuring secure placement and proper grounding
- 4Perform system checks with a multimeter and verify connectivity on Lenel and Genetec software
- 5Assist senior technicians with diagnosing and fixing field wiring faults
- 6Follow local and national building codes, including NFPA 70 and NEC standards
- 7Document as-built diagrams and installation reports using company tablets
- 8Keep tools and equipment organized, restocking the van each morning
Requirements8
- 12+ years installing access control hardware such as readers, strikes, and panels
- 22+ years in low voltage cabling with Cat5e and Cat6, including termination and testing
- 3Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow Lenel and Genetec installation manuals
- 4Comfortable using a multimeter and performing basic electrical continuity checks
- 5Valid driver's license and clean record, with 25% travel to project sites
- 6Physical stamina for lifting up to 50 lbs and working on ladders up to 12 feet
- 7Strong work ethic with a focus on safety, following company protocols without exception
- 8Willingness to learn under senior techs and attend monthly training sessions
