Yard Operations Part Time TAL Building Centers
Overview
We seek a motivated individual to assist customers with yard material at our Portland location. The role involves loading unloading and stocking lumber yard and warehouse inventory while maintaining a safe work environment. What You'll Do11
- 1Greet customers and assess their needs before directing them to appropriate materials
- 2Direct customers to purchased items and load materials safely using forklifts and light trucks
- 3Communicate with sales and yard teams to ensure prompt and coordinated customer service
- 4Check material quantities against invoices to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- 5Pull loads for delivery and bundle items securely for truck transport
- 6Develop product knowledge through proactive learning about materials and their applications
- 7Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to management
- 8Operate radial arm and panel saw equipment under proper supervision
- 9Maintain organized yard and warehouse spaces for efficient workflow
- 10Assist with seasonal demand fluctuations and special projects
- 11Support team initiatives that align with TAL's community-focused values
Requirements11
- 1Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds with occasional heavier lifts
- 2Valid driver's license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record checks
- 3High school diploma or equivalent acceptable
- 4Experience with forklift operation and heavy machinery safety protocols
- 5Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- 6Commitment to safety standards and willingness to follow all company procedures
- 7Willingness to work flexible hours as needed within store operations
- 8Basic math skills for accurate inventory verification and pricing calculations
- 9Ability to stand for extended periods and walk on uneven surfaces
- 10Previous experience in retail or warehouse environments preferred but not required
- 11Reliable attendance record and positive attitude toward teamwork
