X-Ray Technologist, Outpatient Imaging in Austin, TX
Overview
As an X-Ray Technologist at ARA Diagnostic Imaging, you will own the full radiographic exam process at one of our 18 outpatient centers in Greater Austin, performing 2D X-Ray and fluoroscopy procedures on GE and Siemens equipment. You will work within a team of 5-10 technologists and report to the Imaging Supervisor, collaborating with 400+ board-certified radiologists on advanced diagnostics. This role offers true work-life balance with no on-call or overnights, plus opportunities for modality cross-training in CT, MRI, and Mammography through Radiology Partners' national network.
What You'll Do10
- 1Perform X-Ray and fluoroscopy examinations on GE and Siemens equipment, positioning patients and selecting correct image receptors for accurate diagnostics.
- 2Verify patient identity and review each requisition to match the ordered exam, flagging discrepancies before imaging begins.
- 3Apply patient care protocols to recognize conditions that affect procedure success, adapting techniques for trauma, mobility, or pediatric cases.
- 4Review patient charts for exam referrals and special instructions from exam notes, appointment notes, or referral requests.
- 5Maintain ACR quality assurance records and comply with Texas Medical Board and State Department of Health regulations.
- 6Educate patients on the imaging process and answer questions to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- 7Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to confirm study quality and report critical findings within the shift.
- 8Cross-train in CT, MRI, or Mammography within the first year, expanding your skillset across modalities.
- 9Operate PACS and RIS systems to accurately document exams and imaging history.
- 10Support a team-first culture by mentoring new technologists and participating in safety huddles.
Requirements9
- 1Graduate of an approved AMA Council of Education program in radiologic technology.
- 2A.R.R.T. certification in Radiography required.
- 3M.R.T. certification by the Texas Medical Board required.
- 4Current CPR and AED certification.
- 51-2 years of clinical X-Ray experience, with 0-1 years acceptable for new graduates.
- 6Proficiency in X-Ray positioning, fluoroscopy, and DR image acquisition.
- 7Working knowledge of PACS and RIS systems.
- 8Ability to lift patients and operate heavy imaging equipment safely.
- 9Effective communication skills with patients, families, and clinical teams.
