Overview

You will build, install, and maintain electrical systems for power generation equipment at Powell Industries. Working from electrical schematics and blueprints, you will assemble, wire, and test switchgear and motor control centers. The shop floor runs on a 4-10 schedule with Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1:00am. You will collaborate with electricians and technicians to ensure systems meet Powell wiring standards. This role offers direct impact on engineered-to-order projects and a clear path to senior assembler.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Read and interpret point-to-point wiring diagrams and master copy drawings to route and bundle wires.
  • 2Use crimpers, strippers, and torquing tools to terminate and connect wiring on MCC, SWGR, and harnesses.
  • 3Lay out, install, and drill/tap devices onto doors and back pans.
  • 4Install and terminate CTs, name plates, and space heaters per job specs.
  • 5Operate continuity buzzers to verify circuit integrity and perform in-process inspections.
  • 6Maintain a clean, organized work area and attend all safety meetings to promote a safe culture.
  • 7Lift up to 50 lbs and work from ladders and scaffolding at heights up to 30 feet.
  • 8Wear required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses) and use respirators when needed.

Requirements8

  • 1High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2Ability to read and understand point-to-point wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • 3Proficiency with hand tools and power tools (crimpers, strippers, tin snips, hammer).
  • 4Ability to use a tape measure accurately.
  • 5Basic command of English (written and verbal).
  • 6Ability to lift 50 lbs continuously and stand/walk for long periods.
  • 7Basic computer knowledge preferred.
  • 8Knowledge of calibration and ability to read spec sheets preferred.
