Wholesale Energy Analyst, MISO Market Operations
Overview
You will own day-to-day market operations for wholesale generation and load-serving clients in the MISO market, including scheduling, settlements, and reporting. You will work directly with CES clients and colleagues to interpret MISO market rules and identify settlement discrepancies. This role combines operational execution with analytical consulting to help clients manage wholesale market activity. What You'll Do10
- 1Coordinate generation scheduling, reporting, and operational activities for MISO wholesale clients.
- 2Review and analyze MISO settlement statements, identify discrepancies, and submit disputes when appropriate.
- 3Develop settlement reports, monitoring tools, and models using Excel to manage market activity.
- 4Monitor MISO market developments, tariff changes, and settlement impacts to inform clients.
- 5Support client operational processes for wholesale generation, load, scheduling, and settlements.
- 6Perform quantitative analysis of MISO wholesale electricity markets and other organized markets.
- 7Build analytical tools for resource assessments, market evaluations, and settlement analysis.
- 8Participate in research projects on wholesale market structures, pricing, and market rules.
- 9Identify opportunities to offer scheduling, settlement, and analytical services to clients.
- 10Communicate findings and operational issues clearly to internal teams and clients.
Requirements10
- 13+ years of professional experience in deregulated or organized wholesale electricity markets.
- 2Demonstrated knowledge of MISO wholesale market operations and settlement statements.
- 3Experience interacting with MISO market systems, processes, or data.
- 4Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, economics, math, statistics, finance, or a quantitative field.
- 5Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- 6Experience conducting market, technical, or project-based research.
- 7Ability to manage recurring operational deadlines and longer-term projects.
- 8Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
- 9Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interactions.
- 10Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team.
